Area Bereavement Support Groups & Other Resources

The following are community resources, not endorsed by BP/USA

Adventist St. Thomas Hospice Bereavement Services  Open to all community members dealing with loss, free of charge.  All programs meet at Adventist St. Thomas Hospice, 119 E. Ogden Avenue, Suite 120, Hinsdale, IL 60521, unless otherwise noted on their website.  Call 630-856-6990 to register for a specific program.

GRASP: Grief Recovery After a Substance Passing – The group is open to anyone who has lost a loved one to substance abuse or addiction. There is no charge, and anyone is welcome. The group meets the 3rd Monday of each month from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at  Adventist Hinsdale Hospital New Day Center (south entrance), 740 Pasquinelli Drive, Suite 104 Westmont, IL 630-413-4636.

LOSS (Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide) Support Group  A collaborative effort between Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Joliet and the Archdiocese of Chicago. The program offers support to those who have lost a loved one – relative or friend – to suicide. LOSS groups meet monthly at various locations throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. (312) 655-7283

Sudden Infant Death Services of Illinois, Inc. – A statewide not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting family members and others who have been touched by the tragedy of SIDS or any other infant death. 630-541-3901 or sids@sidsillinois.org.

Suicide Prevention Services has a support group called Survivors of Suicide (SOS) that is open to anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide.  The group meets the third Monday of every month at Advent Christian Church, 905 N. Edgelawn, Aurora, Illinois, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. 630-482-9696
